Cory Johnson is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Pender Capital. Cory co-founded Pender in 2015 and brings more than 16 years of experience in real estate acquisition, development, finance, and asset management expertise. Cory is responsible for the firm’s overall financial strategy and overseeing all of Pender’s business operations and is a member of the Investment and Risk Committee, Management Committee, and Compliance Committee. Prior to Pender, Cory founded three successful real estate funds which employed value-add strategies through asset repositioning, while maintaining attractive risk adjusted returns to investors. In 2012, Cory co-founded Latitude Properties LLC, a vertically integrated real estate investment firm focused on the acquisition, rehabilitation, asset management, leasing, and disposition of distressed single-family residences throughout central and southern California. Cory oversaw the successful acquisition and stabilization of Latitude’s portfolio. In 2008, recognizing an opportunity to reposition assets in the Greater Los Angeles residential market, Cory co-founded and was managing partner of Paladar Capital Investments, LP and Montero Capital LLC, two funds specializing in the acquisition and repositioning of distressed single-family residential assets. In 2006, Cory served as land acquisition manager for MDC Holdings Inc. and was responsible for acquiring suitable development sites for the nation’s 9th largest homebuilder. From 2002 to 2005, he served as a business development representative for Weyerhaeuser Mortgage Company, a GE Consumer Finance company. During his tenure at GE Consumer Finance, Cory’s team originated more than $525 million in residential debt. Cory received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Zach is the co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of Pender Capital. Zach co-founded Pender in 2015 and brings over 16 years of experience in both commercial real estate finance and capital markets expertise. Zach oversees the firm’s Investment and Research program which includes deal sourcing, research, and structuring and is a member of the Investment and Research Committee and the Management Committee. Prior to Pender, Zach served as Managing Director/ Senior Vice President for Liberty SBF, a commercial finance company based in Philadelphia, where he was responsible for establishing Liberty’s Western Regional HQ in Los Angeles and directed West Coast originations and operations. Zach personally originated over $60 million of commercial loans during the first year of operations on the West Coast. In 2008, Zach joined Silver Point Capital, LP in New York, a Goldman Sachs partner fund, where he was responsible for commercial real estate loan originations and insurance-linked securities trading. During his tenure at Silver Point, Zach traded more than $500 million in distressed commercial real estate debt, insurance-linked securities, and assets in the capital markets. From 2004 to 2008, Zach served as Senior Vice President/Division Director of Velocity Commercial Capital where he was the company’s highest grossing originator in each consecutive year, responsible for more than $300 million in originations. Zach earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas.

Neil Beldock is the Senior Vice President of Loan Originations of Pender Capital. Neil has over 35 years of commercial real estate finance experience. At Pender, Neil’s responsibilities include the hiring and training of new Loan Officers as well as pre-screening new loan submissions and working with the Loan Officers on all loan submissions from inception to funding. Throughout his career, Neil has held executive and senior level management positions covering loan originations, loan operations, loan servicing, secondary marketing, loan securitization, and joint venture operations. Neil has also held Series 7 & 63 licenses. Over 35+ years, Neil has been active in commercial real estate finance. Neil has held positions at Citigroup in Hanover, Maryland, Coast Federal Bank in Los Angeles, Independence Bank of Los Angeles, Family Savings Bank of Los Angeles, and Hamburg Savings Bank of Brooklyn, New York. Neil was also the Western Regional Manager for Interbay Funding and the National Sales Manager for Velocity Commercial Capital. Covering his career, Neil has been involved in transactions totaling over $2.5 billion. Neil is also a published author having written articles for numerous mortgage industry publications including The Scotsman Guide, Commercial Mortgage Insight, The Mortgage Press, and National Mortgage Broker Magazine.

Hannah Frantz is the Senior Vice President of Operations at Pender Capital. Hannah joined Pender in 2018 and brings over 15 years of experience in operations and administration in the real estate and finance industries. Hannah is responsible for managing Pender’s investment-side operations, including transaction management, underwriting, closing, and asset management. Prior to Pender, Hannah worked for PIMCO Manager Research Affiliates in Newport Beach and the Howard Hughes Corporation in Honolulu. From 2007 to 2011, Hannah spent time in New York at private equity firm Chartwell Investments and Deutsche Bank. Hannah was with Velocity Commercial Capital in Southern California and then on the East Coast from 2005 to 2007. Hannah attended the University of Arkansas in Little Rock.

Kristin Rick is the Vice President of Originations at Pender Capital. She joined Pender with over 14 years of commercial real estate finance, investment, and marketing experience. Kristin is responsible for the overall strategy of Pender Capital’s business development platform. She maintains a thorough knowledge and understanding of the major metro and tertiary markets across the country where Pender focuses on deploying its debt. She structures the firm's marketing strategy to most effectively target the major brokerages in these areas. Prior to joining Pender Capital, Kristin served as Vice President of Originations for F&M Bank, a Long Beach-based, FDIC-insured institution with over $7.1B in assets. She personally funded over $55M of commercial real estate debt in her first year with the bank. From 2004-2006, Kristin served CommerceWest Bank, a Southern California-based business bank with $760 million under management. Kristin began her career in finance working for Strong Capital Management, a Midwest-based investment firm with over $29B under past management. Kristin received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a double major in Communication and Journalism and a minor in Business Administration. Kristin also holds her Virginia Real Estate License.

Alex Petrosian is the lead underwriter/analyst within the Los Angeles office of Pender Capital. Alex joined Pender in the summer of 2018 and brings more than 5 years of experience in real estate acquisition, analysis, structured finance, and asset management expertise. Alex is responsible for much of the firm’s underwriting of new loan requests and aids in the oversight of loan closings. Prior to Pender, Alex served as a Senior Associate within Cushman and Wakefield’s Equity, Debt, and Structured Finance department with a focus in Senior Housing financing, acquisitions, and dispositions throughout the United States. Between 2015 and 2018, Alex was directly involved in representing sales and financings totaling over $600 million. In 2013, Alex joined Lapinco Inc. in Los Angeles, a family-owned private equity fund where he was responsible for asset management and commercial real estate acquisitions totaling over $50 million. Alex earned his bachelor’s degree in 2013 from the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. Additionally, he was recently accepted into the MBA program at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business and will be attending the program part time beginning in the Fall of 2019.

Sean Montazer is the Jr. Analyst at Pender Capital. Sean joined Pender in 2019 and brings previous Analyst experience as a Multifamily underwriter from Marcus & Millichap. Matt Clark is the Asset Manager at Pender Capital with over 12 years of commercial mortgage servicing experience, and he services performing and non-performing loans as well as managing REO assets in the Pender Capital portfolio. Prior to joining Pender Capital, Matt managed a $200MM portfolio of watchlist and substandard Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac multifamily loans for Arbor Realty Trust. Before Arbor, Matt was a Senior Associate as CWCapital Asset Management, managing non-performing CMBS loans and REO assets as Special Servicer for B-piece holders, resolving over $500MM in defaulted mortgages and REO assets following the 2008 financial crisis. Matt began his career at Orix Capital Markets in its CMBS analyst training program before transitioning into performing loan asset management at KeyBank Real Estate Capital. Matt graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s in Finance, and he obtained his CFA charter in 2013.
